The medicinal herb Eucommia ulmoides has very strong adaptability and a certain degree of cold tolerance. However, it prefers a warm and humid environment, and is best cultivated in fertile, deep, humus-rich sandy loam, clay loam and slightly acidic loam.

Cultivation techniques:
1. Planting method: generally propagated by seed. Sowing can be done in both spring and autumn. First soak the seeds in warm water at 40-50°C, stirring constantly, until the water cools, then remove them and soak them in cool water for two days. Once the seeds have swollen, remove them and mix them with fine sand. Dig a pit in a sunny spot, place the mixed seeds in the pit, sprinkle water to keep them moist, and cover with a layer of plastic film. Stir once every 1-2 days, and sow when the seeds begin to sprout. For drilling, open shallow furrows 2 cm deep at a row spacing of 25-30 cm, sow the seeds evenly into the furrows, and smooth over with a hoe. Keep the bed surface moist before emergence. Transplanting can be done in either spring or winter. Dig holes at a row spacing and plant spacing of 3 m each. When planting the seedlings, make sure the roots are spread out, then cover with soil, firm it down and water.

2. Field management: after the seedlings have emerged completely, pay attention to thinning them out, and promptly loosen the soil, hoe weeds and water. Apply fertilizer as appropriate according to the growth of the seedlings. After transplanting and establishing☆, management still needs to be strengthened every year, pruning side branches so that the main trunk grows robustly.
