Because the market supply of lettuce is large in winter, the price is low, so how to keep lettuce safe through the winter, keep it fresh and crisp, and sell it at a good price is a way to increase income. The following winter storage methods for lettuce are introduced for reference.

        Lettuce temporary planting storage method:
At harvest, pull the lettuce up by the roots, let it dry briefly in the sun or store it temporarily in a shaded spot for a short time.

        When storing, dig a temporary planting trench 1-1.3 m wide and 0.8 m deep (0.5 m underground, 0.3 m above ground).
Select healthy, robust lettuce that is undamaged, disease-free and has not bolted, remove the outer leaves, keep the top 7-8 leaves, and set it temporarily in the bed or trench.

During temporary planting, cover with soil to bury 2/3 of the lettuce, then stand it upright and firm it down, leaving slight gaps between plants and a row spacing of about 10 cm to allow ventilation.
After temporary planting is finished, cover the top of the bed (trench) with a thin mat or a single layer of sorghum stalks, uncover the mat at night to let air in, and add more soil cover when the weather turns cold.
