Corn Planting Techniques Video and Picture Detailed Guide
1. Land preparation and fertilization: When preparing the land, you must make the subsoil firm and the topsoil loose, plow deep and work the soil finely, and avoid uneven emergence; apply more than 2000 kg of farmyard manure per mu, plus 20 kg each of phosphate fertilizer and ammonium bicarbonate. 2. Sow corn at the right time: it should be planted in isolation from other corn. Before sowing, the seeds must be disinfected: soak them in clarified limewater or a 500-fold solution of 50% carbendazim for 7 to 8 hours, then sow or sprout them. Spring sowing is from March to April; summer sowing is from June to July.

Before sowing, the seeds must be disinfected: soak them in clarified limewater or a 500-fold solution of 50% carbendazim for 7 to 8 hours, then sow or sprout them. Spring sowing is from March to April; summer sowing is from June to July.
Drill sowing is preferable, with a row spacing of 83 cm and a plant spacing of 30 cm to 40 cm; use 1.5 kg of seed per mu and plant 3000 to 3500 plants per mu. For early planting, it is best to use seedling raising with fertilizer balls under plastic film mulch, or raise seedlings and transplant them.
3. Thinning and replanting corn:
After emergence, check the seedling condition promptly. If there are missing plants, soak seeds and sprout them in time for replanting.
4. Topdress corn in time:
At the 4-leaf stage, apply 2000 kg of manure water plus 5 kg of ammonium bicarbonate per mu to give the young seedlings sufficient fertilizer; at the jointing stage, apply 25 kg of rapeseed cake or tung oil cake plus 2.5 kg of urea per mu, and earth up and weed; at the 9-leaf stage, apply "ear fertilizer", using 12.5 kg of urea per mu. Pest and disease control is the same as for ordinary corn.
5. Harvest corn in time:
The suitable harvest period is generally 18 to 23 days after pollination, when the grain moisture content is about 70%. When harvesting, twist off the corn ears together with the husks; sell or process them promptly after harvest.
