Pinellia ternata damping-off disease is also called leaf scald disease. The harm caused by Pinellia ternata damping-off disease and its prevention and control methods are listed in detail below (for reference).

Harm caused by Pinellia ternata damping-off disease:
In artificial cultivation of Pinellia ternata, damping-off disease is one of the most common major diseases, and its causes are still being studied and observed.

It occurs most easily under conditions of high temperature during the rainy season and high humidity, especially when ventilation and light penetration are poor, in which case the disease is severe. In the early stage of the disease, irregular green lesions appear on the leaves and petioles, and the color of the lesions then deepens. The affected parts become soft, and the leaves droop as if scalded by boiling water, appearing semi-transparent and sticking to one another.

Pinellia ternata damping-off disease comes on quickly and spreads fast. Once found, it rapidly spreads, and treatment is troublesome. The soil and air of the entire plot give off a very strong fishy, foul odor.

Prevention and control methods for Pinellia ternata damping-off disease:

Method one: When choosing a plot for planting Pinellia ternata, choose old vegetable land where tomatoes, eggplants, cucumbers or Chinese cabbage have not been grown in the previous crop, or a plot where damping-off disease has not occurred in the previous crop, for planting Pinellia ternata.

Method two: During the rainy season and hot season, attention should be paid to reducing soil moisture.

Method three: After the soil is selected, winter plowing and sunning of the soil clods should be carried out in winter. Do not apply unrotted fertilizer, and apply little or no nitrogen fertilizer among chemical fertilizers.

Method four: Before the disease occurs, after high temperature and rain, use 75% chlorothalonil 800-fold solution; 50% thiophanate-methyl 1000-fold solution; agricultural 200 ppm streptomycin, Xinzhiomycin; 300 ppm chloramphenicol; once every 7 days, sprayed alternately 3 times. Be sure to spray evenly, with no repeated spraying and no missed spraying.

Method five: Use 66.5% Previcur 800-fold and 72% DuPont Curzate 500-fold for spray control, which also gives good results.
