What should you pay attention to when planting cabbage in autumn? Please give guidanceThe key points for planting cabbage in autumn can refer to the following list:
1. Cabbage variety selection:Autumn cabbage is the opposite of spring cabbage; its early growth period coincides with the high-temperature season, so heat-tolerant varieties with a short growing period should be selected.
2. Cabbage sowing and seedling raising:During the autumn cabbage seedling-raising period, temperatures are high, and it is relatively difficult for seedlings to emerge and grow, so shade netting needs to be used for seedling raising.
(1) Cabbage sowing time: Autumn cabbage sowing is generally best done in early June, mainly ensuring that it can be harvested within 80-90 days, so as to supply the autumn off-season market.
(2) Cabbage seedling-stage management: Before sowing, first drench the seedbed thoroughly with clean water. After sowing, promptly cover with rice straw or tree leaves to keep the seedbed soil moist. After seedlings emerge, promptly remove the covering, and set up small arched sheds covered with shade netting to prevent direct sunlight. When 2-3 true leaves have grown, thin the seedlings once, pulling out those that are too densely grown and maintaining a certain spacing. Thin the seedlings 2-3 times in total, and after each thinning, water once with diluted manure water. If drought occurs, water every morning and evening to prevent the seedlings from aging.
3. Cabbage planting out:When autumn cabbage seedlings have grown for about 40 days and have 7-8 true leaves, they can be planted out. Before planting out, choose land that has been deeply plowed and leveled, and make raised beds 1 m wide, planting 2 rows. Apply 2000-3000 kg of decomposed organic fertilizer per mu, plus 20 kg of compound fertilizer. If drought occurs after planting out, drench the planting holes thoroughly with water before planting the seedlings. After planting, water every morning and evening to ensure the seedlings survive. Generally, for early-maturing varieties, the row spacing x plant spacing is 40 x 35 cm, with about 4500 plants per mu; for mid- to late-maturing varieties, the row spacing x plant spacing is 50 x 40 cm, with about 3000 plants per mu.
4. Cabbage field management:During the growing period of autumn cabbage, high-temperature dry weather or showers that wash away soil are often encountered. Therefore, when there has been no rain for a long time, water promptly, and apply diluted manure water once every 5-7 days, first light and then concentrated. After the rosette stage, add 100 g of urea and compound fertilizer to each load of manure water for topdressing to promote seedling growth.
