Sparse flowering, thin flowers, and difficulty in setting flowers in kidney beans are due to poor flower differentiation. The main causes are as follows:

1. Too low a temperature inside the greenhouse directly affects the normal differentiation of flower buds, or causes incomplete development of the floral organs, resulting in infertile flowers whose blossoms cannot be fertilized and then drop off.

2. The soil and air inside the greenhouse are too dry, causing the pollen to age prematurely and the stigma to dry out; this is also a reason the flowers fail to set. It is recommended not to apply fertilizer, but only to water with plain water. This is because at this time the kidney bean plants are neither vigorous nor weak, and applying fertilizer easily causes excessive vegetative growth, which weakens flower bud differentiation.

3. The kidney beans are planted too densely, and the shading between rows is quite serious. It is recommended to thin out some leaves appropriately, and in future plantings to pay attention to reasonable dense planting; while keeping the plant spacing at 40cm, you can change from two seedlings per hole to two seedlings every other hole, or change the plant spacing to 45cm. Planting too densely and insufficient light can cause insufficient nutrition in kidney bean flowers and pods, causing them to drop off during development.
To improve the situation of sparse flowering and difficulty in setting flowers in kidney beans, in addition to reasonable field operations, you can also spray some agents containing molybdenum and boron.
