How should summer sesame be fertilized? Please advise on effective fertilization methods for sesameTo achieve a higher yield of summer sesame, nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium fertilizers need to be applied skillfully at the right times. When fertilizing, pay attention to the principles of one steady, two precise and three heavy. For details, refer to the following:
One steady means fertilization at the seedling stage should be steady. Summer sesame grows slowly at the seedling stage, and the roots have a weak ability to absorb nutrients. If the base fertilizer is insufficient, the seedlings will be thin and weak, so a seedling-promoting fertilizer should be applied as early as possible, but the amount used should be small, otherwise it can easily cause leggy seedlings.
Two precise means topdressing at the bud stage should be precise. From the bud stage to the early flowering stage, summer sesame grows noticeably faster. If topdressing is done in time at this point, it can promote flower bud differentiation and increase the number of capsules.
Three heavy means topdressing at the flowering stage should be heavy. From the full flowering stage to the maturity stage, summer sesame flowers, sets capsules and matures simultaneously, and its demand for fertilizer increases sharply. Topdressing at this stage can not only reduce yellow tips and shriveled grains in summer sesame, but also increase the 1000-grain weight.
Generally, topdressing at the full flowering stage should be done early and applied in two doses: 10 days after the first flowers, apply 2-3 kg of pure nitrogen per mu, and 10 days after capsule setting, apply 3-5 kg of pure nitrogen per mu. To meet the large demand for phosphorus and potassium fertilizers at the full flowering stage, 2 kg of phosphorus fertilizer and 1 kg of potassium fertilizer per mu can be mixed with 50 kg of water, and the clear liquid can be taken and sprayed, giving an obvious yield-increasing effect.
