For the methods of controlling smut and stripe disease in barley, you can refer to the following methods for control (for reference).

  Method 1: Select seeds carefully:
Before sowing wheat, screening should be carried out to remove shriveled grains and diseased grains. Before seed treatment, sun the seeds for 1-2 days to ensure the moisture content of the wheat seeds does not exceed 13%, so as to improve the germination vigor and disease resistance of the seeds.

Method 2: Chemical seed dressing method:

1. Wheat smut:
Choose 60 g/L tebuconazole suspension seed coating agent (Likesiu) for seed dressing. The method is to use 10 mL of Likesiu (1 packet), add about 600 mL of clean water to make a paste, and mix evenly with 20-24 kg of wheat seeds. If the amount of seeds used is larger, prepare according to the above ratio. After the seeds are evenly coated with the liquid, place them in a cool place, and sow after they are dried.

2. Barley stripe disease:
Choose 60 g/L tebuconazole suspension seed coating agent (Likesiu) for seed dressing. The method is the same as the disinfection method for wheat smut. Alternatively, use 60 g of 50% carbendazim, add 2 kg of water, spray it onto 20 kg of barley seeds, mix well, and then pile them indoors for 2-3 hours before sowing.

  Precautions
1. The dosage of chemical treatment must not be too high, to prevent phytotoxicity from affecting seed germination.
2. When mixing chemicals, take personal protective measures. When mixing seeds indoors, pay attention to ventilation.
3. Disinfected wheat seeds should not be piled too thickly, to prevent the seeds from becoming moldy or germinating.
4. Excess disinfected wheat seeds must not be used as feed, to prevent livestock poisoning.
