How to control rice seedling albinism? Please introduce the control methodsRice albinism begins at the three-leaf stage; at first the leaf tips turn white, then it spreads downward along the midrib to the leaf base, and from the midrib outward to both leaf margins, until finally the whole leaf turns white. Some leaves appear as white stripes with the leaf margins still green, and the leaf sheaths fade in color and turn purple, later becoming yellow-brown. In some seedlings the disease develops very quickly, with several green leaves becoming diseased at the same time and turning into white seedlings, and the newly emerging leaves and tiller leaves are also white. In those where the disease develops more slowly, the plants generally gradually turn green again at the 6-7 leaf stage, while severely affected plants die at the 4-5 leaf stage.
Rice albinism can be controlled by referring to the following methods:
1. Do not use chemical fertilizers (especially urea) as a base fertilizer in the seedling field, or use as little as possible; topdressing should be carried out at the three-leaf stage and applied in divided broadcast applications.
2. Sow on sunny days as much as possible.
3. In affected fields, trace element fertilizers such as zinc sulfate or ferrous sulfate may be applied as topdressing; zinc sulfate at 1-2 kg per mu, ferrous sulfate at 1 kg per mu.
