Zhongdiwang has compiled the harm and control methods of wheat fusarium head blight, listed below for the reference of netizens.

Harm of wheat fusarium head blight:
Wheat fusarium head blight is a fungal disease that mainly occurs on wheat ears, causing entire ears or some spikelets to rot. In rainy and humid weather, diseased ears produce pink mold-like substances, and it is precisely because of this feature that it is named fusarium head blight. Fusarium head blight causes white blighted ears of wheat, reduces the thousand-grain weight, and affects yield. On the other hand, because the toxins secreted by the pathogen are harmful to the human body, its edible value is limited. Wheat with a diseased grain rate higher than 4% cannot be purchased. Therefore, fusarium head blight is extremely harmful to wheat.

Causes of wheat fusarium head blight:
The pathogen of wheat fusarium head blight can only infect some florets during the flowering and grain-filling stages of wheat, and then spread to the entire ear. What truly causes the disease is a type of propagule called ascospores, which are produced from diseased residues left over from the previous year, including diseased wheat ears, rice stubble, and corn stalks.
Second, it is a typical climate-type seed disease. Only when rainy weather occurs during the flowering and grain-filling stages of wheat and there are large amounts of pathogens (ascospores) in the air can the disease possibly break out severely. Because large amounts of pathogens exist every year, the weather from wheat heading to grain-filling, especially rainfall amount and the number of rainfall events, determines the severity of fusarium head blight.

Control methods for wheat fusarium head blight:

Method 1: Do a good job of field sanitation, remove corn and wheat straw, especially in wheat-corn rotation fields, and be sure to plow and destroy stubble early.

Method 2: Strengthen forecasting, and spray chemicals for protection during the heading and flowering stages of wheat, using tebuconazole and prochloraz mixed with carbendazim or used in rotation. Chemical formula: 50% prochloraz manganese salt, 50% prochloraz manganese complex (also known as Shibaogong) 1000-2000 times liquid, 25% tebuconazole (also known as Likerxiu) emulsifiable concentrate 2500 times liquid. Generally, spraying is done when the wheat heading rate reaches 10%. If rain is forecast, spraying can be done before the rain. Because it often rains during the heading and flowering stages of wheat in the south, control should be carried out on sunny days. According to the local uniformity of wheat heading and weather conditions, in some places it is necessary to treat twice consecutively at an interval of 7 days.
