What harm does rice bacterial leaf streak cause? What methods can be used to control it? We also ask experienced netizens to help explainZhongdiwang has compiled the harm and control methods of rice bacterial leaf streak, listed below for netizens' reference.
Harm of rice bacterial leaf streak:
In the early stage of rice disease, the lesions are dark green water-soaked small spots, which quickly expand between the leaf veins into dark green to yellow-brown fine streak spots, with the two ends of the lesions appearing as infiltrated green. A large amount of bead-like yellow bacterial ooze often overflows on the lesions, forming gelatinous small particles after drying. On bacterial leaf blight lesions, bacterial ooze is not abundant and is not commonly seen, whereas bacterial leaf streak lesions are often covered with small bead-like bacterial fluid. When the disease is severe, the streaks merge into irregular yellow-brown to withered-white large spots, but when held against the light, many semi-transparent streaks can be seen. When the condition is serious, the leaves curl, and the field appears yellow-white.
Causes of rice bacterial leaf streak:
High temperature and high humidity favor disease occurrence. Typhoons and rainstorms create wounds, and after they pass, the disease easily becomes epidemic. Excessive application of nitrogen fertilizer and too deep irrigation aggravate the disease. The bacterial leaf streak pathogen mainly overwinters on diseased rice seeds, rice straw and volunteer rice, becoming the main primary infection source. The pathogen mainly invades through stomata or wounds and spreads by wind, rain, dew, etc. Late rice is more susceptible to infection than early rice; excessive application of nitrogen fertilizer and too deep irrigation aggravate the disease; late rice suffers severe disease at the booting and heading stages.
Control methods for rice bacterial leaf streak:
Method one,Select disease-resistant (tolerant) hybrid rice. For seed disinfection treatment, use the warm water soaking method for suspicious rice seeds: preheat the rice seeds in warm water at 50°C for 3 min, then soak them in warm water at 55°C for 10 min, during which they should be turned or stirred at least 3 times. After treatment, immediately remove them and place them in cold water to cool down, which can effectively kill the pathogens on the seeds.
Method two,Avoid excessive and late application of nitrogen fertilizer, combine with phosphorus and potassium fertilizers, and adopt formula fertilization techniques. Avoid continuous irrigation and deep water.
Method three,When streak spots are seen on rice leaves at the seedling stage or in the field, spray pesticides immediately for control. Commonly used fungicides include thiosen copper, Yeqingshuang, Xiaojunling, etc. 86.2% copper master (cuprous oxide), 20% silyl flusilazole prochloraz.
