Agapanthus is native to Africa, so why is it called the flower of love?
Agapanthus is a plant of the genus Agapanthus in the family Amaryllidaceae. It is a herbaceous perennial that blooms from midsummer to early autumn, with deep blue or white flowers. The leaves are linear-lanceolate and nearly leathery; the flower stems are erect and up to 60 cm tall; the umbel inflorescence bears 10 to 50 flowers, which are funnel-shaped and deep blue or white, with anthers that are yellow at first and later turn black; the flowering period is from July to August. It prefers warmth, moisture and full sunlight. During the relatively dormant winter period, the potting soil should be kept slightly dry; the overwintering temperature should not be lower than 8°C. In the north it needs a greenhouse to overwinter. In warm regions it can be planted in gardens. There are white-flowered and variegated varieties. It is native to South Africa and is widely cultivated across China.

Masahiko Kimura kept refusing, and this went on for more than a year, nearly two years, until Kimura finally could not take it anymore and agreed. So Neil went to Japan and stayed there for several years. After returning to the United States, he opened his own nursery, called Mirai.
