It's wrong not to water succulents in summer, but there is a trick to watering
Even dormant succulents in summer absolutely must not be cut off from water. But watering has its tricks. Don't water until it runs through directly; instead, water along the edges of the pot. If it's a very small pot, such as a black square pot, just slowly pour from one corner, letting the water seep and spread gradually through the pot by capillary action, creating a breathable, moist soil. I don't really advocate using the soaking method to water in summer. The reason isn't that soaking is bad, but that soaking is a very troublesome business and requires a lot of skill. If you soak too long, it creates overly wet conditions at the bottom. Once the heat makes it evaporate, the whole pot turns into a steamer, and black rot is inevitable.
