Golden Temple azaleas generally refer to the azalea landscape cultivated and displayed in a concentrated area within the Jindian Scenic Area in Kunming, Yunnan. The Golden Temple is located in the Mingfeng Mountain area on the northeastern outskirts of Kunming. The garden includes a dedicated azalea garden, where many varieties have been planted based on Yunnan's rich azalea resources. Every spring the garden is full of blooms, making it a well-known local spot for flower viewing.

Azaleas are a leading ornamental flowering shrub in Yunnan. In central Yunnan, common types include Rhododendron simsii, Rhododendron delavayi, and Rhododendron decorum, with flower colors covering red, pink, white and more. The flowering period is mostly concentrated in spring, and different varieties bloom one after another, so the overall viewing period is relatively long. The azaleas at the Golden Temple are mostly planted in patches following the mountain terrain. At peak bloom the colors are clearly layered, and strolling through the garden to enjoy the scenery is at its liveliest.

For home care, azaleas prefer a cool, semi-shaded environment and are suited to loose, airy, well-drained acidic humus soil. For routine watering, water when the soil is dry and let it dry out between waterings; avoid water accumulating in the pot. In summer, pay attention to shading and ventilation. After flowering, appropriately prune away spent flowers and dead branches. Fertilizing should be done lightly and frequently; acidic fertilizers are more helpful for keeping the leaves deep green and the plant robust.

Common problems during care, such as leaf drop and leaf spot disease, are mostly related to sudden environmental changes, waterlogged roots, or poor ventilation. It is necessary to promptly adjust the placement, clean up diseased leaves, and control water reasonably. As long as soil, light, and water are managed properly, it is not difficult for azaleas to bloom abundantly. They are also a commonly used ornamental flowering shrub in parks and courtyards in many places.
