Lavender sachets smell lovely, and they are easy to make and store
A lavender sachet is a fragrant item made by putting dried lavender flower spikes into a small breathable cotton or linen bag. It is simple to make and easy to carry, and its fresh scent lasts a long time, making it one of the most popular herbal sachets in daily life.
Lavender sachets are often placed in wardrobes and drawers to add a light, elegant fragrance to clothing, and folk custom also uses them to help repel moths. Many people like to hang them by the bed or in the car, using the soothing herbal scent to relax and help with falling asleep. It should be noted that these effects mostly come from traditional experience and cannot replace medical treatment.
Making a lavender sachet yourself is not complicated. First prepare fully dried lavender flower spikes, then choose a cotton bag or gauze bag with good breathability, fill it about 70 to 80 percent full with the flower spikes, and tie the opening tightly. The fabric should be a material that is tightly woven yet still breathable, to keep flower fragments from leaking out, and a small amount of other dried herbs can also be added to adjust the scent.
The scent of the sachet will gradually fade over time. You can gently rub the bag with your hands to help the flower spikes release their fragrance again, and once the scent has clearly weakened, simply replace the flower spikes with new ones. In particular, note that the lavender used for making sachets is mostly processed according to non-food standards, which may differ from the requirements for edible herbs, so never brew the flower spikes from the sachet as tea or put them in your mouth. In addition, when buying dried flowers, be careful to distinguish lavender from similar-looking plants such as sage and verbena. Lavender grown at home will have a purer scent after being harvested, air-dried, and then put into the bag.
