Planting methods refer to the full set of operating standards for a plant, from seed selection and seedling raising to routine care, covering soil preparation, propagation methods, water and fertilizer management, and environmental regulation. Because different plants differ greatly in their growth habits, there is no uniform template for planting methods; they need to be applied flexibly according to the specific variety.

Common propagation methods for planting include sowing, cuttings, division and layering. Sowing suits most herbaceous flowers and vegetables, while cuttings and division are mostly used to multiply flowers and can better preserve the characteristics of the mother plant. Epiphytic plants such as orchids and Dendrobium are usually grown by division combined with a loose, airy substrate; only when the roots can breathe freely are they easy to keep alive.

Soil, light, water and fertilizer are the key factors affecting survival. Most plants like a loose, airy, well-drained medium; watering should follow the principle of letting the soil dry out between waterings, and fertilizing should be done lightly and often, since too high a concentration easily burns roots and damages seedlings. As for light, sun-loving and shade-tolerant varieties must be distinguished, as an unsuitable position often leads to yellow leaves or leggy growth.

The problems beginners most often encounter in planting center on root rot, yellow leaves and failure to bloom, mostly related to overwatering, poor ventilation or insufficient light. Before planting, first understand the temperature and humidity characteristics of the plant's native environment and try to mimic its suitable conditions, then adjust the management rhythm according to the season, and the survival rate will rise noticeably.
