Sweetness Characteristics of Imported Cherry Varieties: Chelan, Lambert, Tieton, and Bing

Cherry is a common fruit. The cultivation method of cherries is relatively simple, but this fruit is fairly expensive, generally thirty or forty yuan per jin. It also has quite a few varieties. Do you know those varieties of this fruit? Do you recognize the several varieties below?

Chelan: heart-shaped fruit, flesh firmness similar to Bing, the earliest-maturing variety among Northwest cherries, sugar content about 20 Brix, 2 weeks earlier than Bing, less affected by rain.

Lambert: heart-shaped, dark red in color, fruit smaller than Bing, its flavor is no less than Bing and it is also one of the varieties favored by consumers. Main cherry production period: May to July.

Lapins: large fruit, high resistance to fruit cracking, gradually replacing the Lambert variety, matures 10-20 days later than Bing, sugar content about 17-19.6 Brix, one of the main Northwest cherry varieties.

Tieton: extra-large fruit, smooth skin, good flesh firmness, mildly sweet, thick green stem, sugar content about 16.5 degrees, 1 week earlier than Bing, an early-maturing variety, 16.5 Brix.

Bing: this variety has red fruit color, while the flesh tends toward pink, high firmness, high water content, high sweetness, and is the most common and most abundant variety on the market, sugar content about 20.9 Brix. Main cherry production period: May to July (including California and the Northwest).
