Sinningia leucotricha 'Moon Banquet' is a tuberous perennial herb in the Gesneriaceae family, native to the tropical regions of South America. Its base bears a flattened spherical tuber, and its leaves are thick and fleshy, densely covered with fine hairs on the surface that feel like velvet. The corolla is mostly tubular, commonly orange-red or bright red, blooming in clusters above the foliage, with high ornamental value, often kept as a small potted plant on balconies and windowsills.

Sinningia leucotricha 'Moon Banquet' prefers a warm environment with bright, diffused light; it fears intense direct sun and cannot tolerate cold. When the low-temperature period of winter arrives, the above-ground parts gradually wither and the plant enters dormancy, with nutrients stored in the tuber, sprouting again when temperatures rise the following year. This is also a major characteristic that distinguishes it from ordinary herbaceous flowers.

For home care, it is recommended to use loose, breathable, well-draining soil, which can be peat moss mixed with an appropriate amount of granular medium. During the growing season, keep the potting soil slightly moist; never allow waterlogging, otherwise the tuber easily rots. Fertilize mainly with diluted fertilizer, and appropriately supplement phosphorus and potassium fertilizer before flowering. In summer, pay attention to shading and enhance ventilation; during the winter dormancy period, control watering or even stop watering, and place the pot in a dry, cool place for greater safety.

Propagation can be done by sowing seeds, or by dividing the tuber when repotting. The problems beginners most often encounter are root rot and leggy growth, mostly caused by overwatering and insufficient light. As long as you master the principles of watering thoroughly only after the soil dries out and providing sufficient light, Sinningia leucotricha 'Moon Banquet' is not difficult to grow; healthy plants can reliably send up flower spikes every year, blooming with strings of tubular flowers.
