How to Grow Hydroponic Gardenia? Detailed Guide to Cultivation Methods and Precautions

I. Cultivation Methods

1. Light

In dim light, the leaves it grows will be a deeper green, but the flowers it produces will not look good, so it is not recommended to place it in a dark area; make sure there is plenty of light.

2. Pruning

It has a strong ability to grow new branches, and frequent pruning will not harm it, so we should prune it on schedule to help it grow better and encourage new branch growth.

3. Changing the Water

When growing flowers this way, water changes need to follow a regular schedule; you cannot just change the water whenever you happen to think of it, because fertilizer has been added to the water. Sometimes moss in the water will wrap tightly around the tree's roots; at this point you should remove as much of the moss from the roots as possible, and also clean the container the tree is growing in thoroughly. After changing the water, add fertilizer; sometimes if the tree is already growing very well, it is fine not to add fertilizer.

4. Fertilizing

For this type of flower, blooms grown without fertilizer will definitely not look good. You can add the most common compound fertilizer or liquid fertilizer. If using granular fertilizer, only 3 to 5 granules are needed; for liquid fertilizer, the ratio is about 1 to 1000.

II. Precautions

1. Flowers grown in soil and placed outdoors will not freeze as long as the temperature does not drop below 5°C, but because this is hydroponic, if the temperature falls below 0°C the nutrient solution will freeze and the flower will be affected. So in winter, move it indoors and close the balcony. Generally, there is no need to change the water in winter; if the water level drops, simply top it up.

2. When the humidity in the air is insufficient, spray the leaves with water so they stay clean and beautiful. Summer is the flowering season; you can move it to a shaded, breezy area and increase the frequency of spraying, otherwise the leaves will easily turn yellow or drop.
