Summer brings high temperatures and abundant sunlight, and it is precisely the full bloom season for many flowers that love warmth and light. Most plants that bloom in this season are heat- and sun-tolerant, and some even carry a rich fragrance, making them the stars of courtyards, balconies and park landscaping.

There are quite a few common summer flowers, and they can be roughly grouped by habit. Aquatic flowers include lotus and water lily; woody flowers include gardenia, jasmine, crape myrtle, rose of Sharon and pomegranate, among which gardenia and jasmine also carry a delicate scent. Vining types such as morning glory and Chinese trumpet creeper are good climbers, suitable for trellises or flower walls, while herbaceous ones like sunflower, zinnia and garden balsam come in rich colors and are easy to grow from seed.

When growing flowers in summer, water and light management are key. With high temperatures and fast evaporation, watering is best done in the early morning or evening, avoiding the high-heat hours at noon. Varieties that fear intense sun exposure can be shaded appropriately, and good ventilation should be maintained to reduce the occurrence of pests and diseases. During the blooming period, a moderate supplement of phosphorus and potassium fertilizer helps produce larger, more vividly colored flowers, but the concentration should not be too high.

These summer-blooming plants have high ornamental value; they can be planted in the ground to arrange flower beds and borders, and are also suitable for pots to accent balconies and windowsills. When choosing them, combine your local climate with your own care conditions, and you can keep flowers blooming all summer long.
