Keeping flowers at home refers to the activity of planting and caring for various flowering plants in the living environment, usually mainly in the form of potted plants, commonly seen in spaces such as balconies, living rooms and courtyards. It can beautify the home environment, regulate air humidity and cultivate one's character, making it a leisure activity enjoyed by many families.

There are many kinds of flowers suitable for growing at home, and common ones include pothos, spider plant, succulents, Chinese rose, petunia and Phalaenopsis orchids. Different flowers have quite different requirements for light, temperature and humidity; some like sunlight and tolerate drought, while others prefer shade and moisture. When choosing, you should take into account your own lighting and ventilation conditions and act according to your means.

In daily care, watering is the most basic step, generally following the principle of watering when the soil is dry and withholding water when it is wet, to avoid long-term water accumulation in the pot causing root rot. Light and ventilation are equally important; most flowering plants need plenty of sunlight, while foliage plants are relatively shade-tolerant. During the growing period, plants can be given appropriate fertilizer supplements, and during the dormant period, nutrient supply should be reduced to let the plants rest naturally.

It should be noted that some ornamental plants have toxic or irritating sap, and when placing them, children and pets should be kept from accidentally eating or touching them. It is not advisable to keep too many or too densely packed flowers indoors, because at night plant respiration consumes oxygen; keeping a moderate amount and paying attention to opening windows for ventilation is more prudent. After mastering scientific care methods, keeping flowers at home can become an easy and pleasant part of daily life.
