New wheat in eastern Henan and western Shandong is poised for a bumper harvest, and a good wheat harvest is in sight
New wheat in eastern Henan and western Shandong is poised for a bumper harvest. According to the southern route wheat survey by the China Grain Network, the wheat sown area in Shangqiu, Henan, has maintained a slight upward trend in recent years, and wheat varieties are mainly high-yield wheats such as Aikang 58, Zhongmai 18, and Zhongmai 22. In terms of high-quality wheat planting, the main varieties include Zhoumai 24, Xinmai 26, and Zhengmai 7698, with an incompletely counted sown area of less than 1 million mu, and planting is relatively scattered. Judging from the current growth situation, pests and diseases are occurring rather severely, leading to mild white head symptoms, but the overall wheat growth is the best in historical years, and it can be expected that if the weather is normal later, there will still be a bumper harvest year. Wheat growth in Heze, Shandong, is relatively good, but unlike the areas surveyed earlier, local enterprises do not believe that the local wheat support price plan will be activated, because Shandong had rarely activated the plan before, and because Shandong wheat quality is relatively good, with many buyers from surrounding areas coming in past years, and at one point the saying "(wheat) rises, look to Shandong" was circulated. From our on-the-ground understanding, the mainstream local wheat price is about 1.25 yuan/jin, roughly the same as wheat prices in surrounding areas.

Old Grain Passed Off as New: Getting a Clear Picture of Grain Reserves Requires Tighter Oversight
Chaotic practices in China's grain reserve system, such as passing off old grain as new, are linked to unsmooth mechanisms and unsound institutions, and even more to the lack of management and lax oversight by the relevant departments. Efforts to Crack Down on Fake Agricultural Materials and Strengthen Oversight Are Further Intensified
The special campaign to crack down on fake agricultural materials has been carried out for 14 consecutive years, with intensifying rectification efforts, a continuously purified agricultural materials market, and a quality situation that is stabilizing and improving. But we must also clearly see that the production and sale of fake agricultural materials has not yet been completely eradicated, incidents that cheat and harm farmers still occur from time to time, and many problems remain in the agricultural materials market.

The "one family, two systems" in agricultural products reflects a lack of oversight
Some media outlets exposed that farmers in parts of Weifang, Shandong, use the highly toxic pesticide "Shennongdan" to grow ginger, and the ginger farmers say "crops grown with excessive pesticides are not eaten by ourselves and not sent for export; all of them are only supplied for domestic sale." In fact, this "one family, two systems" phenomenon in the supply of agricultural products is not an isolated case

Greening trees should be open and transparent, exposed to the sunlight of oversight
A government greening tender in a certain place in Hebei abandoned locally grown poplar trees and introduced "super ginkgo" trees from the south: each tree cost several thousand yuan "ex-factory," with a landed price as high as 50,000 yuan, and a landscape design that cost a few hundred thousand yuan actually incurred a design fee of 20 million yuan. Jiangxi's landscaping "One Large, Four
