Cattle Farm Construction Requires Good Site Selection Planning and Barn Design
Cattle farm construction refers to the work of site selection, overall planning, and the building of barns and supporting facilities around the needs of raising beef cattle, dairy cattle, and other livestock, and it is a fundamental part of developing the cattle industry. Whether the farm area is planned reasonably not only affects the health and growth of the herd, but is also directly related to the efficiency of daily management and disease prevention and control. In terms of site selection, a cattle farm should be built in a location with relatively high terrain, good drainage, and good ventilation and sunlight, far from residential areas, water sources, and major traffic arteries, while also requiring an adequate water supply, stable electricity, and convenient transport of forage and feed. If there is enough cultivated land around the site, it will also make the supply of roughage more convenient. In terms of layout, the farm is generally divided into a living and management area, a production area, and a manure and sewage treatment area, with appropriate spacing between the functional areas to reduce cross-contamination. The orientation of the barns should preferably face south, balancing lighting and ventilation; the floor should be non-slip, resistant to trampling, and easy to wash, and drainage ditches and an exercise yard should also be provided. According to the breed being raised and local climate conditions, closed, semi-open, or open barns may be chosen, and dairy farms also need to be equipped with corresponding production facilities such as milking equipment. During construction, manure and sewage treatment facilities should be planned in step with the scale of breeding, and methods such as composting and biogas can be used to turn manure into resources and avoid polluting the surrounding environment. In addition, before building the farm, local breeding policies and land use requirements should be understood, and the relevant procedures should be handled in accordance with the law, so as to achieve scientific farm building and standardized breeding and lay a good foundation for subsequent production.
