Potted Plant Growing Methods and Key Points of Daily Care and Management
Potted cultivation refers to the practice of growing plants in flower pots or other containers, covering flowering and foliage plants as well as fruit trees, vegetables and medicinal plants. It is not limited by space, and can be placed on balconies, windowsills or in courtyards, making it one of the most common forms of home gardening.
In terms of types, potted plants can be broadly divided into flowering potted plants, foliage potted plants, succulent potted plants, and potted fruit trees and medicinal plants. Plants such as orchids, Dendrobium officinale and Dendrobium species are often grown by enthusiasts as potted plants because of their elegant form and their combined ornamental and medicinal value. Different plants have quite different requirements for light and humidity, so when choosing varieties you should take your own home environment into account.
As for care, because the container space of a potted plant is limited, the potting soil dries out easily; watering should follow the principle of watering when dry and letting it dry between waterings, avoiding both prolonged drought and waterlogging that rots the roots. During the growing season, a dilute liquid fertilizer can be applied as appropriate, and the pot and soil should be changed every year or two so that the roots have enough room to grow. If light is insufficient or ventilation is poor, plants tend to grow leggy or develop pests and diseases, so their position needs to be adjusted in time.
Overall, potted plants not only beautify the home and cultivate one's spirit, but also make it easy to observe the growth process of plants, making them suitable for enthusiasts of all ages. As long as you master the basic points of watering, light and repotting, most plants can grow healthy and luxuriant indoors.
