Snapdragon, also known as dragon flower, is a perennial herbaceous plant in the family Scrophulariaceae, often grown as an annual or biennial flower. Its blooms resemble small goldfish, and its flower colors are rich, including red, pink, yellow, white and many other shades. The flowering period is fairly long, making it suitable both for flower beds and flower borders and for growing in pots on a balcony for display.

Snapdragon likes a sunny environment; insufficient light easily leads to leggy growth and fewer flowers. In daily care it should be placed on a sunny balcony or in a courtyard, with appropriate shading during the high temperatures of summer to avoid long exposure to the scorching sun. It prefers a cool climate and has a certain tolerance to cold, but it fears intense heat, so in midsummer pay attention to ventilation and cooling.

Water according to the principle of watering when dry and letting it dry out between waterings, keeping the potting soil moist but not waterlogged; long-term waterlogging easily causes root rot. A loose, fertile, well-drained sandy loam soil is best. During the growing season, apply a dilute liquid fertilizer about once every ten days, and before budding and flowering add more phosphorus and potassium fertilizer, which can make the flower colors more vivid and produce more blooms.

Pinching the growing tips appropriately during the growth period can promote branching and make the plant shape fuller. Removing spent flowers promptly after blooming can reduce nutrient consumption, and with proper care it may even encourage a second round of flowering. Normally pay attention to controlling pests such as aphids, keep the environment well ventilated and avoid stuffy, humid conditions, and the plant will grow more robustly.
