The crabapple (Malus spectabilis) is a small deciduous tree of the genus Malus in the rose family (Rosaceae). It blooms in spring, and its flowers are elegant and unrestrained; when the whole tree is covered in blossoms, its ornamental value is very high, and since ancient times it has enjoyed the reputation of being an immortal among flowers. The core of its flower language is gentleness, beauty and happiness, and it is often used to describe a lovely image of someone gentle, demure and bright-smiling.

In classical poetry and folk culture, the crabapple is also often associated with the feelings of homesickness and parting sorrow. The ancients regarded it as a flower of elegance; when a wanderer sees the crabapple in full bloom, it easily stirs up longing for relatives back in his hometown, so it also carries the meaning of a wanderer's homesickness and the sorrow of parting.

Crabapples of different colors differ slightly in meaning: pink varieties are mostly considered to carry a sense of gentleness and admiration, while white varieties symbolize purity and understated elegance. It should be noted that the begonia (begonia) and the crabapple are not the same plant; the flower language of the begonia leans toward bitter love and longing, and the meanings of the two should not be confused.

In terms of uses, the crabapple is suitable both for landscaping courtyards and parks and for growing in pots on a balcony for viewing. It likes an environment with plenty of sunlight and has fairly good cold tolerance, but it dreads waterlogged soil most of all; in daily care, simply maintain light and ventilation. After the flowering period, promptly cut off spent flowers and dead branches to reduce nutrient consumption, which helps it bloom more vigorously the following year.

When choosing a crabapple to give to others, giving it to an elder or a friend is very appropriate; it is both a compliment to their gentle temperament and a wish for a happy and fulfilling life.
