Variety origin: this variety was discovered in 2007 by the Baoji City Institute of Agricultural Sciences in Shaanxi Province as an ultra-high-yield, high-quality, high-end, high-efficiency edible-type new sweet potato variety.

Characteristics: Qinshu No. 9 sweet potato has a creeping plant type, green leaves and petioles, greenish-brown stems, long strip-shaped tubers, light red skin, and light yellow flesh, with 3—5 tubers per plant. It is nutritionally complete and extremely storage-tolerant. According to measurements by the Xuzhou Sweet Potato Research Center in Jiangsu, the dry matter rate is 32.62%, the starch content of dry samples is 64.49%, the protein content is 6.96%, the glucose content is 3.28%, and the sucrose content is as high as 11.47%.

Yield performance: the average fresh tuber yield is about 3000kg per mu, and under high-yield cultivation it can exceed 5000kg.

High-yield cultivation key points:

(1) Choose virus-free sweet potato seedlings for planting.

(2) Apply sweet potato formula special fertilizer. It is recommended to use Tianji sweet potato special formula fertilizer 9:11:22. Apply seedling fertilizer early, apply "side-dressing fertilizer" heavily, and later, depending on stem and leaf growth, apply "crack fertilizer" or foliar topdressing as appropriate.
