A Detailed Guide to Succulent Planting Methods and Care Techniques
A succulent plant is a plant in which at least one of its three vegetative organs - roots, stems and leaves - is thick and juicy and capable of storing large amounts of water. It has at least one type of fleshy tissue, and this tissue is a living tissue that, among its other functions, can store available water; when the water conditions in the soil deteriorate and the plant's roots can no longer absorb and supply the necessary water from the soil, it enables the plant to temporarily survive independently of an external water supply.
In fact, when it comes to caring for succulents, we only need to pay attention to four key elements (light, water, ventilation, nutrition), and especially for beginners who have just gotten into the hobby, if you master the methods for these four elements, then growing succulents will become an easy task
The first is the issue of light. Here we focus on summer (in the other seasons it is best to let the succulents get some sun every day). In summer, if we let succulent plants receive too strong light, their leaves are very easily scorched, so friends who want to grow succulents outdoors in summer must lower the temperature of the environment where the succulents are grown and use some shade tools appropriately.
The second is the method of watering. During the growing season, you can use the method of watering thoroughly after the soil has dried out, and it is best to choose the evening for this; after the surface of the soil has dried out, wait another 1-2 days before watering thoroughly a second time. In other seasons, you can appropriately extend the watering interval to achieve the purpose of controlling the shape. If you run into the rainy season, you must provide good shelter from the rain (when using tap water to water succulent plants, you can draw it in advance and then leave it in a ventilated place to let the chlorine evaporate)
Finally, there is the ventilated environment. In fact, no matter what kind of indoor green plant it is, a ventilated environment is very important. Especially for friends growing succulents indoors, you must open the windows during the day or move the succulents outside; if the rainy season arrives, you can consider using an electric fan instead. Finally, there is fertilizing. Although succulent plants do not need much nutrients in their later growth (using fertilizer also easily causes leggy growth), adding a little compound fertilizer when potting them up can still promote their growth.
