Rice Expert's Daughter Hong Shuzhen Takes Over the EM Bacteria Compost Legacy

Soil & Composting By Emily Carter 0 views

Uncle Hong Guosheng, a rice expert, went to Japan in 1989 to learn EM bacteria composting. After returning to Taiwan, China, he experimented continuously for 16 years and finally succeeded in growing local crops with EM bacteria. To express his gratitude for fate's arrangements, he made a vow to teach EM bacteria composting for free. Over the years, more than ten thousand students from all over the world have come.

As the eldest daughter, Hong Shuzhen watched her 89-year-old father gradually grow frail and worried that the composting technique would be lost. She therefore decided, together with her husband, Mr. Wang, to take over EM bacteria composting, hoping to help her father pass the technique on seamlessly.

Mr. Wang and Ms. Hong are among the outstanding farmers mentored by the Tainan District Agricultural Research and Extension Station, and Mr. Wang is also a production and marketing group leader. They are very happy to share their growing experience. Farmers interested in EM bacteria composting and muskmelon cultivation are welcome to contact them!
