What causes cherries to not grow big
As a relatively rare cherry, it is not difficult to grow, but the hard part is how to grow it well. If you just leave it alone, you can still get a harvest, only the yield will not be great. Among these, the enlargement of cherries is the most difficult part to manage. Basically everyone who grows cherries has encountered cherries that do not grow big. If you do not know the reasons, you can learn about them to reduce the chances of running into this situation.

1. No pruning
If cherries are to grow big and well, then the tree vigor is very important. If the fruit tree grows unreasonably, then even if the cherries are meant to grow big, they will not have the conditions to do so. This is generally a problem that appears only when fruit growers do not pay attention to pruning. When a cherry tree has many fruitless branches, that shows that most of the nutrients are wasted, and the nutrients for the fruit cannot be supplied. When the branches and leaves at the fruiting site are too dense and the fruit is blocked by the leaves, then there is insufficient sunlight, and with insufficient light there is even less hope for the cherries to grow big. Similar situations include many diseased branches and an unreasonable distribution of fruit-bearing branches. These are all caused by fruit growers not pruning.
2. Too much fruit
Generally, the fruit set by a fruit tree will exceed what the tree itself can support. From flowering to fruiting, many poorly growing ones will drop, and then the environment will eliminate another batch, so that the fruit of the tree can develop well overall. But sometimes, due to various reasons, a cherry tree will set a great deal of extra fruit. These extra fruits divide the nutrients that were originally sufficient, causing all the fruits to have insufficient nutrients. The speed at which a fruit tree absorbs nutrients is limited. If it has to supply too much, how can the cherries grow big?
3. Insufficient fertilizer
Fertilizer and water are one of the important nutrient supply routes for cherry trees, and when fertilizer is insufficient, the cherries also cannot grow big. There are many reasons for this situation, such as not fertilizing according to the growth habits of the fruit tree, giving too little when it is needed and applying too much when it is not needed; or not fertilizing according to the fertilizer needs of the cherry tree, giving chemical fertilizer when farmyard manure is needed, and not adding some trace elements that need to be supplemented, and so on. All of these will lead to insufficient fertilizer for the cherry tree.
4. Pests
Pests are also a relatively big problem. Cherry trees are fairly prone to pests, because cherries themselves have little protective ability, with thin skin and sweetness, so many insects like them. From the time the cherry tree begins to bear fruit, invasions by various pests become frequent. Some simply attach to the branches and leaves and cut off the source of nutrients for the cherries, while others directly invade the cherries and feed on them. Under such circumstances, the cherries naturally cannot grow big either.
The above are some of the reasons why cherries do not grow big. In many cases, everyone needs to make adjustments according to the actual situation. If you want cherries to grow big and good, then you need to pay close attention to these problems.
