Strawberry Winter Fertilization Methods

Strawberries have a sweet and sour taste and are deeply loved by everyone. Many growers are now actively cultivating winter strawberries. Strawberries are naturally a summer fruit, so winter cultivation costs are relatively high, and their price in winter is also relatively high. So how are strawberries fertilized in winter? Let's learn about it together.

1. Nursery fertilizer

Fertilization at the seedling stage should mainly use organic fertilizers such as compost, livestock manure and cake fertilizer, with microbial inoculants added to improve the utilization rate of organic fertilizer, and then apply chemical fertilizers such as superphosphate and potassium sulfate. To promote flower bud differentiation of the seedlings, an appropriate amount of base fertilizer can be applied during temporary planting, and a nitrogen fertilizer can be applied once in the middle of temporary planting, with 5-10 kg of urea or 150-250 kg of decomposed human excrement per mu.

2. Base fertilizer

After planting, strawberries begin to bloom and set fruit. Because their growth period is relatively long, base fertilizer should be used before planting, applying 5000 kg of farmyard manure per mu, adding 6-8 kg of microbes, mixing and then applying, so as to alleviate soil continuous cropping obstacles and improve the utilization rate of organic fertilizer. If the soil is acidic, apply another 50 kg per mu, which can be broadcast and then the soil deeply plowed. In the first autumn after planting and at the turn of summer and autumn each year, 2000-3000 kg of compost, 50-100 kg of cake fertilizer and 7-10 kg of compound fertilizer can be applied per mu in furrows.

3. Reasonable topdressing

The specific application amount should be determined by the amount of fruit harvested; more fruit harvested means more fertilizer, and less fruit harvested means less fertilizer. Before the flowering period, apply 10-15 kg of compound fertilizer and 200-300 kg of decomposed human excrement per mu as topdressing. Afterwards, when the fruit expands and at harvest, topdressing should be applied separately. Throughout the whole growth period, topdressing is needed 4-5 times to meet the needs of plant growth and fruit development.

4. Foliar fertilizer

After strawberries set fruit, foliar spraying is needed 2-3 times with 0.2%-0.3% monopotassium phosphate and 0.5% urea. In addition, to improve the taste and quality of the fruit, microbial inoculants need to be applied, diluted 200-300 times for foliar spraying. In addition, calcium deficiency in the fruit can also cause fruit rot, so attention should be paid to the supply of soluble calcium, applying more organic fertilizer, increasing the soil organic matter content, and controlling the application of nitrogen fertilizer.
