Grapes are a common and important fruit that people love. There will always be some grape varieties that everyone is familiar with, but many people may not be so clear about what types of grapes there are. In fact, many friends want to know about this, because knowing the types lets you see which varieties belong to the same category and have the same or similar origins, which is helpful when choosing varieties. Let's take a look at the introduction now.

1. Red grapes

The main characteristic of red grapes is that the fruit is red, most are round, and the fruit is fairly glossy. The leaves of the plant are goosefoot-shaped, with lobes. The main early-maturing variety is Jingya, the mid-maturing variety is Kyoho, and the late-maturing variety is Red Globe. Red grapes have whitening and beauty benefits, and can also resist aging; they are mainly used to make wine. In China, they are mainly grown in the Shandong region.

2. Purple grapes

Also called autumn grapes, the leaves are ovate, with many tendrils. The characteristic is that the stem ridges are fairly obvious and deep, and the tendrils grow opposite the leaves. The branches and pedicels are surrounded by short hairs. They mainly have certain medicinal effects, and the effects are fairly good. Purple grapes come from Vitis amurensis and the vines grow vigorously. The main Oriental varieties are the Longyan variety and the Thompson Seedless variety. The characteristics are smooth leaves, vines covered with a white powder, and relatively smaller fruit; the leaves are heart-shaped, and they are not woody vines but herbaceous. Common varieties are Chardonnay and Gewurztraminer

4. Black grapes

They are the most nutritious. The main characteristics are that the color is black and glossy. The reason they are black is that they contain a large amount of anthocyanins, and their vitamin content is mainly higher than that of other grapes. They have certain medicinal value, are mainly good for the kidneys, and mainly tonify qi and benefit the spirit. The main variety is Summer Black grape, which is early-maturing and has strong disease resistance. The advantage is that the fruit does not easily fall off.

5. Green grapes

The main characteristic is that the fruit remains green until it ripens, the fruit is fairly translucent, and the flesh is firm. The fruit shape is oblong. The main producing area is in China, and the main variety is Thompson Seedless. The fruit has a very high sugar content and is mainly suitable for making raisins or eating fresh.

The main grape varieties are in five major categories, among which there are some smaller categories, and there are many corresponding varieties, but only a few clearly representative ones are introduced.
