Causes of mango fruit rot and control methods

Mango is a relatively popular fruit, with great market demand and excellent economic returns, but some fruit growers often encounter fruit rot during cultivation. This phenomenon generally occurs during the fruit growth period and the harvest period, with the surface looking fine while the inside is rotten. So what causes mango fruit rot? How should it be controlled? Let's find out together.

1. Causes

During sensitive growth periods such as the flowering stage and the early young fruit stage, mango is highly susceptible to infection by pathogens. The pathogens lurk inside the flowers and fruits, and when the fruit swells and reaches maturity under suitable conditions, the pathogens begin to multiply rapidly and cause damage, thus triggering fruit rot. In addition, when the mango tree has insufficient nutrition and poor disease resistance, or when elements such as calcium, magnesium, potassium, zinc, boron and manganese are deficient, fruit cracking or rotting can also occur. The occurrence of this disease is also related to temperature, light, rainfall and soil. During the flowering and fruit-setting stage and the fruit ripening stage, low temperature, abundant rain and insufficient light lead to different degrees of fruit rot.

2. Preventive measures

Spray the plants with chemicals during the shoot-flushing stage, flowering stage and young fruit stage of mango to effectively kill pathogens and inhibit their reproduction, apply more fertilizer to rejuvenate the tree, strengthen tree vigor and repair wounds. In addition, applying calcium carbonate and microbial agents to the soil, or spraying Liangguoan on the leaves, helps reduce the incidence of this disease. At the same time, pay attention to the soil pH value and keep the soil neutral; when the acidity is too high, promptly spread lime powder to neutralize it. During the fruit period, pay attention to light; in strong light, shade appropriately to avoid sunscald from intense sunlight, which can induce fruit rot.

3. Treatment methods

If a small amount of fruit rot has already occurred, spraying with Liangguoan at 150-200 times + garlic oil at 1000-1500 times + Wofengsu at 600 times has a good effect. For more serious cases, it is recommended to spray a compound systemic chemical fungicide to kill the pathogens. At the same time, in combination with root irrigation for yield, use Qingkulike at 100—200 times + Diliwang at 500 times + Wofengsu at 600 times for one root irrigation, which can kill pathogens in the soil and root system, promote root absorption capacity and restore tree vigor.
