Detailed Explanation of Guanxi Honey Pomelo Planting Methods and Cultivation Techniques
Guanxi honey pomelo is a specialty of Pinghe County, Fujian, and is a geographical indication protected product. The advantages of this honey pomelo are that it is juicy with tender pulp, has a fresh fragrance and sweet taste, and offers a well-balanced sweet-and-sour flavor. That is why many growers are now cultivating this honey pomelo, and during cultivation they always run into various problems. Some people also want to learn how to grow it, but how should it be planted, what should be noted during planting, and what kind of growing environment is required? These are all things this article will explain clearly, so read on quickly!

1. Land
Choose a flat area with an open view, not a mountain basin. Plant on hillsides, but not too steep or too high. Plant on south-facing slopes that are sheltered from wind and face the sun, and do not plant at the mouth of a mountain hollow where it is too exposed to wind. The site should have good drainage but not be prone to slope collapse. It should also be connected by roads for convenient transport.
2. Soil
The soil should be deep, loose, fertile, and well structured, able to retain water naturally and drain well. A pH between 5.5 and 6.5 is acceptable. Avoid compacted, heavy clay soil, where roots cannot grow.
3. Seed Selection
Introduced seeds must undergo quarantine and be isolated in a nursery site for one month of temporary planting before planting. The nursery site should be far from the planting site, because dense nursery growth makes disease outbreaks likely and should be prevented from spreading. Choose varieties with strong disease resistance, cold and heat tolerance, and strong branching ability. In the second year, select seeds by collecting mature seeds from vigorous mother plants, then washing and screening to select plump seeds for sowing.
4. Treatment
Soak and stir in hot water at 55 degrees for more than 2 minutes, stirring constantly, because the temperature is actually somewhat high; this is for sterilization. As soon as the time is up, quickly cool them in cold water and then remove them, to avoid scalding if they are not removed in time. After that, keep soaking them in warm water at 25 degrees. Once they absorb water and swell, they can be kept moist at 25 degrees for germination. If not soaking, rinse them every day like bean sprouts.
5. Seedling Raising and Planting
Set up a 1.3 m seedbed, 5 to 8 m long, for convenient drainage; do not make it too long. Then fertilize, till finely, and level the seedbed, after which you can water the base water and broadcast sow directly, covering with 3 to 4 cm of soil. Cover with dry grass and scatter plant ash to keep warm and reduce moisture. After that, water every day, a small amount at a time but frequently, and dig deep ditches for convenient drainage. After the seedlings emerge evenly and are thinned and separated, apply fertilizer water once every three days. If disease is found, spray promptly. When they grow to 50 cm, transplant them with a row spacing of 3 m and a plant spacing of 2 m. After the seedlings recover from transplanting, apply fertilizer water again.
The above is the planting process for Guanxi honey pomelo, from introducing and selecting seeds and choosing land, through treatment, disinfection and sterilization, then sowing and raising seedlings, to mature plants and transplanting. This is the entire planting process, and every step must be handled carefully and conscientiously. Of course, after planting, until the plant dies, it all counts as part of planting management.
