A Detailed Guide to Sacha Inchi Cultivation Techniques: Planting Methods and Key Management Points
Sacha inchi, also known as star oil fruit or Inca nut, is rich in protein, unsaturated fatty acids and various minerals, and is a new resource food in China. Eating sacha inchi has the effects of beautifying and anti-aging, improving brain memory function, promoting blood circulation and improving the digestive system. So do you know how to grow sacha inchi? Today let us take a look at the introduction to sacha inchi cultivation techniques in the following article.

1. Site selection and land preparation
Sacha inchi is generally best planted in flat terrain, well-ventilated, conveniently drained and irrigated, well-aerated soil that is relatively fertile sandy loam. When preparing the land, we can appropriately add river sand to the soil, which is very effective for improving soil aeration. Then we need to apply sufficient base fertilizer. We can first prepare nutrient soil and then add it to the soil and mix evenly. If you want to save trouble, you can directly add decomposed farmyard manure to the soil and mix evenly. After the soil is turned and leveled, it also needs to be disinfected with carbendazim or other agents.
2. Sowing and seedling raising
Before sowing, soak the seeds in warm water at about 30 degrees for two days, then remove the seeds and keep a certain humidity for sowing. When sowing, water the soil once to ensure field humidity, then scatter the seeds evenly and cover them with a layer of nutrient soil. Generally, seedlings emerge in about half a month.
3. Transplanting and trellis building
After the seedlings grow to about 10 to 15 cm, they can be transplanted. The planting density is generally about 50 cm between rows and about 40 cm between plants. About one week after transplanting and survival, according to the growth of the sacha inchi seedlings, reasonably build trellises, which can be stone posts, wooden posts or iron posts. After driving the posts, connect all the posts with rope or wire, then guide the sacha inchi seedlings onto the trellis to grow.
4. Scientific fertilization
For sacha inchi cultivation, it is generally best to mainly use green manure, which is very beneficial for improving the quality of sacha inchi, but we also need to pay attention to combining it perfectly with inorganic fertilizer. During the growing period of sacha inchi, the first topdressing is after transplanting, mainly applying nitrogen fertilizer to promote seedling growth. The second topdressing is before and after sacha inchi flowering, mainly applying compound fertilizer. The third topdressing is when sacha inchi bears fruit, mainly applying potassium fertilizer in furrows. Of course, after the fruit is harvested, topdressing is needed again to restore growth and ensure the yield and quality of the next fruiting.
5. Reasonable pruning
During the growth of sacha inchi, we need to properly prune the vines. First, we mainly promote the growth of the main vine. When the main vine grows to a certain length, remove the tip bud to promote the growth of side vines. If it is a sacha inchi plant after fruiting, then under the condition of maintaining the original plant shape, prune the aged side vines and cultivate relatively robust new branches.
Because many people are not very familiar with sacha inchi, the editor has introduced it in a little more detail here; however, due to limited time and energy, some knowledge has not been fully listed. If you are interested, you can follow our next update.
