Correct Methods and Key Technical Points for Fertilizing Papaya
Most people understand papaya as having a breast-enhancing effect, and it is generally only eaten by people with small breasts, but in reality this is not the case. Regardless, what the editor wants to introduce to you today has nothing to do with this. What you need to understand today is papaya fertilization techniques, that is, how we should fertilize when growing papaya. Let's read the content below to understand it.

I. Fertilizing Young Trees
The papaya growth cycle is not very long. After transplanting, an average-sized sapling has a growth cycle of about six to eight months before it can bear fruit, while most papaya plants have a growth cycle of three to five years. That is to say, the period during which the papaya has not yet borne fruit all belongs to the young tree stage. During this period, the main goal is to promote the growth of the young tree so that it ends the vegetative growth stage as early as possible and enters the fruiting stage. Therefore, in addition to base fertilizer, we also need to apply topdressing frequently, with each topdressing amount controlled at about 30 jin, usually mainly quick-acting fertilizers, such as quick-acting nitrogen fertilizer, urea and the like.
II. Fertilizing Mature Trees
1. Base fertilizer
Base fertilizer is the basic nutrient supply for papaya growth, and it is generally applied after the annual papaya harvest or in spring. Each application mainly uses decomposed poultry manure, combined with a small amount of phosphate fertilizer, and it is best to add about 1 jin of lime when fertilizing. Of course, if conditions permit, organic micro-element fertilizer can also be used as base fertilizer; its nutrient content is higher and its efficiency is better.
2. Growth fertilizer
Growth fertilizer is mainly used to promote the growth of papaya branches and leaves so that the plant enters the flowering stage as early as possible. Growth fertilizer is not applied all at once; we need to apply it in multiple rounds, mainly using nitrogen fertilizer, once every half month or so, for about five consecutive times, and the fertilizer concentration gradually changes from dilute to concentrated. Of course, during this period we can also apply it together with fungicides and foliar fertilizer, so that the fertilization effect is better.
3. Flower-promoting fertilizer
When growth fertilizer is applied properly, flower buds will gradually appear, and at this time we need to increase the amount of fertilizer. However, for fertilization during this period, we mainly use phosphate fertilizer and potassium fertilizer and reduce the amount of nitrogen fertilizer used. We mainly apply flower-promoting fertilizer in two rounds, divided into before flowering and after flowering. Before flowering, we mainly use a phosphorus-potassium-nitrogen ternary compound fertilizer, in which the nitrogen content is the lowest, and the amount used per tree is controlled at about 100 grams. Fertilization after flowering is the same as before flowering, which can maintain the vigor of the papaya tree and also promote flower bud differentiation. To prevent papaya from boron deficiency, we also need to appropriately spray borax.
4. Fruit-strengthening fertilizer
After the papaya sets fruit, we need to promote the enlargement of the papaya fruit, and topdressing at this time has a very large impact on papaya yield and quality. Under normal circumstances, we mainly apply a ternary compound fertilizer as topdressing, with phosphorus and potassium elements as the main components. Papaya fruit-strengthening fertilizer is slightly different from that of other fruit trees; it needs to be applied in multiple rounds, generally once a month. The amount used per fruit tree gradually increases each time, but does not exceed 1 jin at most.
If conditions permit, papaya topdressing is best done by combining organic fertilizer with chemical fertilizer, using quick-acting fertilizer and long-acting fertilizer, and combining it with foliar fertilizer. This is the best fertilization technique. The above is the papaya fertilization technique introduced to you today. If you have anything else to add, you can leave a comment below.
