Introduction to Laishan honey peach varieties and analysis of their characteristics
Main characteristics
Laishan honey peach originated from a bud sport of a seedling individual. The fruit is round and slightly tall in shape, with a round fruit apex, 300-700 g, bright red on the sunny side, creamy yellow background color, creamy white flesh, soluble solids content 16%, sweet and juicy, edible rate 96%. The tree is vigorous, with spreading branches, a lower germination rate than ordinary varieties, strong branching ability, and a low sprouting rate of secondary branches. Young fruiting trees mainly bear fruit on long fruiting branches, while mature trees mainly bear fruit on medium and long fruiting branches, with fewer short fruiting branches and bouquet fruiting branches. It has abundant pollen, an extremely high self-pollination fruit-setting rate, blooms in late April to early May, and the fruit ripens in late September. It is resistant to storage and transportation and can be stored for 10 days to 15 days.
Key points of cultivation techniques
Planting density: open-center shape 3 x 4 m, central-leader shape 2-3 m. This peach has a high fruit load, and the main scaffold branches at all levels are prone to drooping. When pruning, attention should be paid to raising the branch position, and back branches should be retained in a planned way for renewal. Strictly thin the fruit and do not leave the topmost fruit.
Apply sufficient organic fertilizer in late autumn, and apply chemical fertilizer during the bud burst, pit hardening, and fruit swelling stages, with a nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium ratio of 1:0.5:1.6.
