Simple Home Storage Method for Atago Pear Fruit
Atago pear is an excellent late-maturing variety, with a maturity period in late October. The price of selling immediately after harvest is not very ideal, and the sales volume is not large either. Here is a simple home storage method that can store the pears until New Year's Day and Spring Festival, with the fruit remaining bright, crisp and sweet, and even better in taste. The profit is also 2 to 3 times higher than selling right after harvest. This method is simple and easy to carry out, and is worth learning from for fruit growers.
1. Timely harvest: Harvest during the maturity period of Atago pear fruit (late October), picking the fruit together with the fruit bags.
2. Timely pre-cooling: After harvest, spread the pears in a cool, ventilated empty room to pre-cool for 10 to 15 days.
3. Preparation of storage materials: Prepare a sufficient quantity of clean fruit transfer boxes (such as old cardboard boxes, wooden boxes, etc.) and some clean plastic film (depending on the total storage amount and the capacity of the fruit transfer boxes).
4. Timely storage: (1) Cut the fruit stems short so that the stems sit within the stem cavity, and at the same time remove small fruit, damaged fruit and rotten fruit, selecting intact pears for storage. (2) Lay the cut plastic film (the film should be able to completely seal a full box of pears) in the fruit transfer box, place the selected pears evenly inside the box, and after filling, cover with the plastic film, leaving a few small gaps for ventilation, then put the box lid back on. The whole boxes of pears can simply be stacked in a cool empty room with ventilation openings.
5. Regular management: Open the boxes to check the pears about every 15 days, remove damaged and rotten fruit, and use a small household sprayer to spray cool boiled water onto the pear bags, so that the paper bags are evenly moist but not dripping, and the bags are not broken.
