Introduction to Apricot-Plum Varieties: Three High-Quality, High-Efficiency New Cultivars
1. Tezao Maiqian Apricot. A bud sport variety from China, it is an extremely early-maturing, high-yielding excellent cultivar with strong tree vigor and vigorous growth. It can bear fruit in the second year after planting. The average single fruit weight is 85 g, with a maximum of 125 g. The fruit is orange-yellow with a red blush on the sunny side. It matures extremely early, about 1 week earlier than Jintaiyang, and can mature in southern Shandong by May 18. It has the rich aroma and sweet flavor of Chinese apricots, overcomes the shortcomings of low fruit set rate and low yield in Chinese apricot cultivars (Hongfeng, Zaohong, Zaohe), and also has the advantages of early fruiting and high yield of European apricots (Jintaiyang, Kate). It is an excellent apricot cultivar with excellent overall traits.
2. Zaofugui Plum. Introduced from the United States, it is the earliest-maturing cultivar in the Brown series of plums. It can mature in late June. The fruit weighs 100-180 g, is purple-black, intensely sweet and refreshing, and has a very small stone. After the fruit ripens, harvesting can be extended by 10-15 days with no fruit drop. It has strong early-fruiting ability and can bear fruit in the second year after planting. It is self-fertile and does not require a pollinizer tree. Its fruit set rate is extremely high. It is suitable for greenhouse or open-field cultivation and has very broad development prospects.
3. Gailiang Plum. Native to the United States, its fruit matures from late August to early September. The fruit is extra large, averaging 200-250 g. The fruit surface is bright red, beautiful and attractive, and the fruit flavor is excellent, intensely sweet and aromatic. Key indicators such as the sugar-acid ratio and shelf life exceed those of other cultivars, making it a premium plum. This cultivar has extremely strong early-fruiting ability; the percentage of plants bearing fruit in the second year after transplanting reaches 100%. It is self-pollinating, with an extremely high fruit set rate, strong yielding ability, and very high economic returns.
