Introduction to the Chaofengwang Peach Variety and Its Main Characteristics
This variety is a bud sport of "Japanese Large Red Peach." Through cultivation and observation, it has the following outstanding characteristics:
1. Excellent fruit traits. The fruit is round and very large, averaging 480 g and reaching a maximum of 800 g. It is brilliantly all-red, crisp and sweet as honey, with a sugar content as high as 15.50%. The flesh is white and the pit is clingstone. The fruit is uniform and consistent. In a peach orchard under normal management, there are no fruits below 200 g, and the marketable fruit rate is high.
2. It reaches the market in the off-season, giving the fruit strong market competitiveness. The fruit matures early, ripening from the end of June to early July in the Lunan region. This is exactly the gap period when fresh peaches are in short supply, so it can monopolize the off-season peach market.
3. Long hanging period on the tree and excellent storage and transport tolerance. The flesh of this variety is firm and crisp and extremely tolerant of storage and transport. It remains firm after hanging on the tree for one month, does not drop, and does not crack. Moreover, the flavor becomes sweeter and the color deeper, meeting the supermarket requirement for a continuous supply of fresh peaches.
4. Strong adaptability and stress resistance, with early fruiting and high yield. This variety has performed well in trial plantings across the country. It is disease-resistant and cold-resistant, easy to manage, self-fruitful, and has a high fruit-setting rate. It can bear heavily in the second year after planting, and a 3-year-old peach orchard can reach a yield of more than 2,500 kg per mu.
