Introducing the Jinxiu peach cultivar and its main characteristics

Bred by the Horticulture Research Institute of the Shanghai Academy of Agricultural Sciences through hybridization of Baihua Shuimi × Yunshu No. 1. Former code name Hu 401, named in 1985.

The fruit is oval, with the two halves asymmetrical, a round apex and a slightly protruding tip; average single fruit weight 150 g, maximum fruit weight 275 g; the skin is golden yellow with a rose-red blush covering 75% of the surface, thick, not very tough, and peelable; the flesh is golden yellow, with radial purplish-red or rose blush near the stone, firm melting texture, sweet with slight acidity, and a strong aroma; soluble solids 12%-16%. Clingstone. Tree vigor is medium, tree habit open. It fruits mainly on long and medium fruit branches. Flower buds begin at the second to third node, mostly compound flower buds. Relatively high yielding. It flowers on April 11 in the Nanjing area, and the fruit ripens in mid to late August.

This cultivar is a late-maturing yellow peach for both fresh eating and processing. Fresh-eating quality is medium to good, canning quality is medium, and it is high yielding. It is suitable for development in the outer suburbs of cities. It is grown in large quantities in Shanghai, and its market prospects are promising.
