High-Dimension Jujube
A rare jujube tree planted in the courtyard, a naturally mutated excellent new large-fruited fresh-eating jujube variety. It overcomes the characteristics of fresh-eating large jujube varieties: Dongzao is small in size, Xuezao has poor sweetness, and Lizao has uneven fruit sizes. This variety has large fruit, with an average single fruit weight of about 80 grams, and a maximum of up to 103 grams. The fruit color is purplish red, the peel is glossy, and the flesh is pale yellow; it is tender, crisp, sweet, and fragrant, with a soluble solids content of 28%-34%, and an excellent taste. It matures in mid-to-late October and is self-pollinating.
The suitable planting areas are within the vast region of 23-42 degrees north latitude and 76-124 degrees east longitude. It can be planted under climatic conditions of 40°C high temperature and minus 25°C low temperature. Soils with a pH between 5.5 and 8.5, including mountain gullies, hills, plains, and fertile farmland, can all be used for planting. It also has stable heredity, strong stress resistance, and extremely wide adaptability, being drought-resistant, disease-resistant, tolerant of poor soil, and tolerant of saline-alkali soil.
It saves labor and is easy to manage. The branches naturally spread out, and without the need for bud notching, branch pulling, girdling, or bark scraping, it can still form an ideal tree shape. Branches can sprout anywhere on the tree, making it an ideal dwarf jujube variety. In areas south of Beijing, autumn planting before the soil freezes is best, with a high survival rate. In areas north of Beijing, spring planting is better. Planted in the same year, it bears fruit in the same year, and in the second year each tree yields about 5-8 jin of fresh jujubes. In the third year, each tree yields about 10-15 jin.
