Introduction and Characteristics of the Cangfang Zaosheng Peach Variety
A Japanese variety, bred by Cangfang Yingzang in 1945 by crossing (Tuscan x White Peach) with a seedling (a non-melting early-maturing variety). Named in 1951. Introduced to China in 1966.
The fruit is round and fairly symmetrical, with a round and flat apex; average single fruit weight 127 g, maximum fruit weight 206 g; the skin is milky white, with dark red spots or blush on the sun-exposed side, and is not easy to peel; the flesh is milky white with a slight red tinge, firm-melting, sweet in flavor, and aromatic; soluble solids 12.0%. Clingstone. The tree is vigorous and semi-spreading in habit. Young trees bear fruit mainly on long fruiting branches; as the tree ages, medium and short fruiting branches increase, and the starting node of flower buds is the second to fourth node. In the Zhengzhou area of Henan, it blooms in early April, and the fruit ripens in early July, with a fruit development period of 88 days. The flower is of the rose type, and the pollen is abortive.
This variety has large fruit and fine, firm flesh, and is an excellent fresh-eating variety. The pollen is sterile, so pollinizer trees need to be planted.
