Zaomei---bred by the Institute of Forestry and Pomology, Beijing Academy of Agriculture and Forestry Sciences, from the cross Qingfeng * Zhaoxia. This variety has strong growth vigor, good flower bud formation, many compound flower buds, and early fruiting with high yield. The fruit is nearly round, with an average single fruit weight of 97g and a maximum of 168g, and the fruit shape is uniform; the color is brilliant, with fine rose-red dots or a blush covering 1/2 to the entire fruit surface; the flesh is white, hard-melting, juicy, rich in flavor, and of superior quality; the pit is clingstone and small. The fruit ripening period is June 6---10, 3---5 days earlier than Chunlei. Both the tree and the flower buds are cold-resistant.
