According to Xinhua News Agency, the Henan Academy of Forestry Sciences, on the basis of extensively collecting late-ripening jujube resources in China, has bred a winter jujube variety representing the current highest level of winter jujube in China -- the Red Golden Mango winter jujube. According to the head of the Agroforestry Office of the Henan Academy of Forestry Sciences, the winter jujubes currently promoted in production in China include Zaozhuang winter jujube, Chengwu winter jujube, Daxue jujube, Zhanhua winter jujube, and others. Some of these winter jujube varieties are of very poor quality, with seriously lignified flesh, and some varieties bear fruit late and have slightly poorer high-yield performance.

The Red Golden Mango winter jujube bred this time by Henan Province avoids the above shortcomings and has the following characteristics:

1. Peculiar morphology: The appearance closely resembles a mango; it is golden yellow at the white-ripe stage and bright red when fully ripe, beautiful and lovely, with great value for fresh eating and ornamental use.

2. Extremely late-ripening: The Red Golden Mango winter jujube enters the full-ripe stage from the end of October to early November, when temperatures drop; with slight storage it can be kept fresh until New Year's Day and the Spring Festival, giving it high economic value, strong market competitiveness, and the potential to earn foreign exchange through export.

3. Large fruit: The average single fruit weight is 38 grams, and the largest single fruit weight is 70 grams.

4. Strong adaptability: The Red Golden Mango winter jujube is not selective about soil texture and tolerates poor soil, and can be cultivated in both the north and the south. Its greatest advantage is that it does not crack when exposed to rain, giving it an extremely high marketable rate and making it suitable for development in rainy areas.

5. Good taste: The Red Golden Mango winter jujube has a pure flavor, is crisp and sweet with a rich taste, tender and crisp with no residue, thin skin and fine flesh, abundant juice and a small pit, and top-grade fresh-eating quality.

6. Early fruiting and high yield: The Red Golden Mango winter jujube bears fruit and reaches the market in the same year, with the highest yield per plant reaching 3 kilograms; with proper management, considerable economic returns can be obtained in the same year. The economic benefit per mu from two-year-old plants can reach more than 10,000 yuan.
