Variety Characteristics and Key Cultivation Techniques of the Three-Season Pear
Variety source: The Three-Season Pear originated in France and is preserved by the Dalian Academy of Agricultural Sciences.
Characteristics: The crown of the Three-Season Pear is an inverted cone shape; young trees are relatively strongly upright, while mature trees are semi-spreading. In the Dalian region, flower buds break in late March, bloom from late April to early May, and the fruit is harvested in early August. Generally, trees begin bearing fruit 3-4 years after planting and enter full production at 8-10 years, with a yield of 50-100 kg per tree and 3000 kg per mu. It has moderate resistance to black leaf disease, strong insect resistance, moderate cold resistance, and is relatively wind-resistant. The fruit is large, with an average single fruit weight of 202.7 g and a maximum fruit weight of 247 g. It is gourd-shaped, with yellow-green skin that turns green-yellow after ripening. The flesh is yellow-white, fine in texture, soft and melting, with few stone cells and abundant juice; it tastes sweet and sour, with a soluble solids content of 10.4-12.6%, a fresh fragrance, and above-average quality.
Cultivation points: Planting spacing is 3 x 5 m or 2.5 x 5.5 m, with 40-53 trees per mu. Use the open-center layered or spindle pruning system for apple trees, balancing heading back, thinning out, and leaving unpruned, but the scaffold branches may be slightly more numerous. Strengthen fertilizer and water management, apply more organic fertilizer, and focus on controlling the pear fruit borer during the overwintering larva bud-turning period and the 3rd and 4th generation larvae of the pear fruit moth. To control black leaf disease, pay attention to spraying less Bordeaux mixture and use other fungicides such as thiophanate-methyl as much as possible.
Trial and demonstration situation: This variety has strong adaptability to natural conditions and is widely cultivated in Dalian, Jiaodong in Shandong, and other areas.
