Penglai Hong Ganlu is a superior new peach variety introduced from Japan. This variety has a vigorous tree habit and thick branches, and bears fruit mainly on medium and short fruit-bearing branches. Its self-pollination fruit-setting rate is low, so a certain number of pollinizer trees must be planted when establishing the orchard. It generally begins bearing fruit in the 2nd year after planting, with a per-mu yield of 750-1000 kg in the 3rd year, 1500 kg per mu in the 4th year, and up to 2500 kg per mu after 5 years. The fruit is large; under proper fruit thinning, the average single-fruit weight is 280 g, and the largest single-fruit weight is 610 g. The fruit is round, very firm, and stores and ships well
