Why is the "Taizhong" red pear called a rare treasure
The "Taizhong" pear is a unique and rare extremely early-maturing red pear treasure discovered by Chinese horticultural experts from red pear bud mutation resources and developed through years of continuous grafting and selection. What makes this pear tree different is that ordinary pear trees bloom white flowers, while it blooms red flowers and bears red fruit. Even more remarkable is that its fruit remains deep red throughout its entire growth period, from formation to maturity, hence the name "Taizhong" pear, making it a wonder among pears.
The "Taizhong" pear has a relatively upright tree habit, dark green leaves, and leaves only 1/2 the size of ordinary pear leaves. It has good ventilation and light penetration, and dense buds. It is an extremely rare extremely early-maturing red pear spur-type variety. The flowering period is late March, it matures around July 20 under open-field cultivation, matures at the end of May under greenhouse cultivation, and matures in early July under open-field cultivation in the south, giving it an extremely high price advantage. The pear weighs 200-400 grams per fruit. It contains 14% soluble solids. The fruit can be eaten immediately after picking. It tastes sweet and crisp, with top-grade quality. The fruit stores naturally for 1 month without spoiling and is resistant to transport. This variety has extremely strong disease resistance and is not susceptible to pear rust. It is planted at 111 trees per mu (2 m x 3 m), and begins producing in the 3rd year after planting.
Because the "Taizhong" pear blooms red flowers and its fruit is deep red from formation all the way to maturity, and because it is a spur-type variety, it is not only a precious tree species with great ornamental value for potted cultivation in courtyards, offices, institutions, and school campuses, but also the preferred excellent tree species with great commercial value for fruit farmers establishing orchards and agritourism parks.
