Qiuyuehong, a new peach variety, a great choice for off-season marketing

This variety is a bud sport of "Hong Jinqiu"; its fresh fruit can reach the market at the Mid-Autumn Festival, and it is an excellent variety with giant fruit, full red color, and freestone.

1 Botanical characteristics: The tree vigor is relatively strong, the tree posture is semi-spreading, one-year-old branches are smooth with a red sunny side, perennial branches are grayish brown, leaves are green and slender, flowers are rose-type flowers with relatively large pink corollas, easy to form flower buds, self-fruitful, high fruit set rate, strong early fruiting and high yield; young seedlings planted average 8 kg of fruit per tree in the second year.

2 Fruit economic traits: The fruit is round, the two halves are symmetrical, the fruit apex is round, flat, and slightly sunken; after ripening, the fruit is bright red, single fruit weight is 450--800 g, the largest can reach 1000 g, freestone, does not crack, the flesh is milky white, hard melting, the flesh is fine and dense, the juice is medium in amount, sugar content is about 16%, the taste is intensely sweet, the flavor is excellent, and it is resistant to storage and transport; after the fruit is picked, it can be stored naturally for more than 10 days, and in a fresh-keeping cold storage for more than 8 weeks.

3 Phenological period: In southern Shandong, the first flowers open on April 1, full bloom is on April 8, the flowering period is 5--7 days, the fruit begins to color in mid-August and ripens in early September; after the fruit ripens, it can remain on the tree for more than 20 days, the fruit development period is 150--170 days, and leaves fall in mid-November.
