What variety of peach is Richuanbaifeng?
Variety origin: Selected by Mr. Toshio Tagawa (Tadakawa Toshiyuki) in Yamanashi Prefecture, Japan, from a branch mutation of "Hakuhō". Introduced from Japan in 1994.
Characteristics: Large fruit, average single fruit weight 225 g. The fruit is round, soluble solids content 14.2%, good quality, good eating taste. No pit splitting, very good storage and transport tolerance, clingstone. In the Qingdao area, the fruit ripens in early to mid-July. Abundant pollen, high self-fruitfulness rate, high yield. The outstanding advantages of this variety are that it colors easily, and the fruit takes on a full, deep red color; excellent quality, extremely sweet taste, great flavor; the fruit is round and well-formed, with good marketability.
Cultivation points: Orchard site selection: Choose loam, sandy loam or slightly sandy soil with good permeability; avoid clay and saline-alkali soil. The groundwater level should be below 1 m, with irrigation available and good drainage.
Planting density: Generally 2-3 x 4 m. Before planting, dig the planting trench (pit) well, apply sufficient organic fertilizer, and water to settle the soil.
Fertilizer and water management: In September, combine with the application of 40-50 kg of organic fertilizer per tree, and at the same time apply 0.5-1.5 kg per tree of a nitrogen-phosphorus-potassium compound fertilizer; during the young fruit stage, spray the leaves 2-3 times with a 300-fold amino acid compound fertilizer; at the end of May, apply 0.5-1.0 kg per tree of a compound fertilizer once; in normal years, water 3 times during the 2 fertilizer application periods, increase watering frequency appropriately in dry years, and pay attention to drainage in years with excessive rain.
Flower and fruit management: At the flower bud stage, thin out excessive and overly dense flower buds; complete fruit thinning within 20 days after flowering, leaving 3-4 fruits on long fruit branches, 2-3 fruits on medium fruit branches, and 1 fruit on short fruit branches, strictly leaving 1 single fruit at a spacing of 15-20 cm.
Training and pruning: Use "Y"-shaped training, with 2 main branches and 2 side branches, arranged in the gaps, with the main branch angle at 60-80 degrees. In the year of planting, pinch the shoot tips when the branches grow to 40 cm, and pinch again when the side branches grow to 30 cm. Cultivate 1 fruiting branch about every 10 cm on the main and side branches. When the new shoot cultivated as a fruiting branch grows to 30 cm, bend the branch to a horizontal position to control its elongation growth and promote flower formation. Prune young trees lightly and leave long shoots; in summer, use techniques such as pinching to promote branching and bending branches to open the angle to moderate tree vigor. Bending branches to open the angle at 60°-70° is appropriate. After fruiting, promptly cut back and renew the fruiting branches. After heavy fruiting, in early to mid-June, remove upright vigorous shoots in the inner canopy and competing shoots on the periphery to improve light penetration and promote full coloring of the fruit, thereby achieving the goal of producing high-quality fruit.
Suitable areas: Domestic peach production areas.
